Home Decor I Bought This Month

Pin me for later!

I thought this might be a fun new feature – home decor I bought for our house this past month!

Now I’d like to mention that I really don’t buy much stuff other than the usual monthly household and pet necessities (and the occasional t-shirt from Target) but when I do, it’s usually something practical or another plant to add to my large collection.

Ever since the Christmas holiday, I’ve been doing a lot of cooking because I find it to be very calming and satisfying after a stressful day, which there seems to be a lot more of lately. Needless to say, I’ve gained a few pandemic pounds. Rut roh …

Anyway, I’ve been wanting to get a cast iron skillet for a long time but was afraid it was going to be too much to take care of since I can barely take care of myself most days. Ha!

But then I received a newsletter with an article about how to take care of a cast iron skillet and I was SOLD. So I ran right up to Walmart and bought myself a Lodge skillet and I freaking love the thing! I’m constantly looking for more recipes to make in it and it turns out, it’s SUUUUUUPER easy to take care of this thing. Why the hell did I wait so long to get one??

And then the other kitchen essential I finally got was this Dutch oven from World Market. Again – why in the hell did I wait so long to get one of these?? What a joy it’s been to cook with this little beauty. Plus, I love the satin brass knob on the lid!

I’ve also been on the hunt for, oh, at least 4 years for a wooden fruit bowl and nothing matched what I envisioned in my little brain until I saw THE perfect one at Target by Hearth & Hand with Magnolia. My search is finally over! HUZZAH!

And then standing next to that beautiful bowl was this gorgeous wood & brass cookbook stand by Hearth & Hand so I put that baby right into my cart. Most of my recipes are printed from food blogs and I was getting dang tired of trying to prop the page up against the wall while I was cookin’ and this stand is just perfect. I’ve owned a vintage-inspired cast iron cookbook stand for years but never use it because it leans too far back so off to the rental cottage it will go!

And last, but certainly not least, is my sweet little Audrey Ficus Tree I bought at a local nursery! If you’ve been following my personal Instagram account for a while, you might remember that I found a baby Audrey Ficus growing in our front yard just over a year or so ago. I dug her up, planted her in a pretty pot, and found her a new home on our back porch. She was doing really well until I moved her to a different spot on the porch and she went downhill fast. RIP, sweet girl.
