2020: Let’s Make This Our Year to Chase Dreams & Adventures!

It’s been 2020 for just over a week and I STILL can’t friggin’ believe it.  Seriously.  Like when the hell did THAT happen?

I had some pretty big dreams for 2019, and while a few did materialize (starting this blog was one of them – yay!), a bunch had to be tabled for later because LIFE HAPPENS. But that’s totally ok – that’s what 2020 is for.

While reading this post, you’ll probably figure out that one of my favorite quotes is, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”  Amen to that.

So today, I’m talking dreams and adventures and how we need to make 2020 OUR year for exploring what goodness life has to offer us!

WHAT’S BEEN ON YOUR BUCKET LIST
FOR WAAAAY TOOOO LONG?

Let me preface this post with the fact that I don’t have a habit of talking about myself – like hardly ever.  I’m a true introvert so I’m typically an observer/listener in most situations. Plus, I don’t feel I’m all that interesting and would rather hear about other peoples’ lives and aspirations than discuss my own.

Since I have many years of observing/listening experience under my belt, I learned that I’m actually quite good at helping people discover what their true passions are in life and that I love cheering them on while they’re chasing their dreams and adventures.

I also think I’m good at it because of the Pisces in me since we’re always looking for ways to create, dream, and inspire others.  So my wish for this post is that I get to be YOUR cheerleader and inspire you to check at least one thing off of your Bucket List this year. ?

It doesn’t have to be some grandiose thing like climbing Mt. Everest or making a bajillion dollars.  It can be something more attainable such as learning a new language, volunteering in your community, taking a trip, writing an e-book, or starting up an Etsy shop.

I think you’ll find that once you check that first item off your Bucket List, you’ll become addicted to the rush you get from learning or doing something new that you’ll want to continue checking more things off your list!

SOME OF THE THINGS I CHECKED OFF MY
OWN BUCKET LIST THE PAST FEW YEARS

My daily reminder to continue pushing myself even when it feels super uncomfortable.

With each passing year, I step out of my comfort zone to try new things, checking them off of my seemingly never-ending Bucket List.  I love learning and while learning something new is certainly nerve-wracking at the beginning, I have found it to be an exhilarating experience as a whole.

Take 2019 for example.  After wanting to learn how to play the drums ever since I was a kid watching my older brother play in our basement, I started taking lessons in April.  And get this: I’ve been kicking ass, loving every minute of it, and my drumming skills continue to get better every week!  I really want to kick myself for not doing it years ago.

Then just over four years ago, I learned how to play guitar which was on my List for a looong time as well.  After 2 years of lessons (and working really hard at it), my instructor thought I was so good that he encouraged me to give lessons to girls and women of all ages.  And since then, I’ve been giving lessons almost every Monday and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience and a way to keep paying my love of music forward.

And in between the guitar and drum years, I’ve been playing in a good friend’s jam band on Tuesday nights.  I started off just coming to watch them jam but eventually, he encouraged me to play and sing along with them. Honestly, I was scared shitless singing in front of others and I wanted to throw up the first time I did it.

But I slowly started gaining confidence and last month, we played out in front of a crowd of almost 300 people and I sang lead on a song. Even though I was SUPER nervous, I got up there, did my thang, and guess what?  I got a standing ovation which I never EVER expected in a million years!! It was quite surreal, to say the least.

Good things happened for me because I continued to invest in myself and my well-being and the same can happen for you!

THE MORAL OF THIS STORY IS TO PUSH YOURSELF
OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE THIS YEAR

Try to push yourself out of your comfort zone in 2020 to discover your own dreams and adventures and be prepared to reap the life-changing rewards.

I hope this post inspired you in some way and I would love to know all about the Bucket List items you plan on tackling this year.  I seriously LIVE for watching people chasing and achieving their dreams because we only get one shot at life, so why not make it the best it can possibly be?

Thank you so much for following my blog and for letting me help you create your own lived-in, loved-in spaces!
